Storm Isha Clean Up

The Seed Ireland team have been busy on the back of recent storm weather conditions!

Storm Isha last month caused a large tree to fall into a residential garden destroying the oil storage tank, which discharged over 600L of oil into the garden slopping towards the house.

The Environment agency had been involved as oil was noted in a watercourse beside a school some 1/2 mile away. The property resident, an elderly gentleman with limited mobility, was also without heating in a particularly cold period and was also experiencing very strong oil vapours inside the house.

Seed first attended on day as instructed, and quickly arranged for a hire oil tank to get the heating running, whilst carrying out control measures to contain and prevent continued entry into the watercourse and towards the dwelling. We were able to reduce the internal odour impact so the resident could comfortably remain in the house, installed absorbents in the watercourse and into an on-site retention trench, while we also arranged for the tree to be removed in advance of starting planned remediation works in February 2024.
