Loss of Oil
Seed Ireland recently deployed a rapid response to a loss of oil incident in RoI, after the property owner reported impact to their water supply. At the time they were unsure of the contaminant source.
Our operatives found the point of loss (on the bottom underside of their oil storage tank) after decanting remaining 2300 L contents to our supplied storage tanks. However, an estimated minimum 2000 litres of marked kerosene had already been lost prior to our appointment, and the entire water supply to the property, which is supplied by a private well on site less than 2.5m away from the tank location, had been significantly impacted with visible oil on water from some of the taps inside.
Will approval of insurers we set up an initial recovery system bypassing the on-site pump to remove oil product and continue working address soil and water contamination, utilising expertise of Seed's groundwater specialist from UK, with full support of all involved parties (insurers, loss adjuster, the insured and his representatives) to restore the supply to drinking water quality and address risks associated with kerosene contamination present.
